The ENGINEERING and TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT Program’s Executive Seminar Series allows executives from industry to pass on insight and knowledge to graduate students preparing for challenges that the seasoned executive understands well. This ETM Program initiative facilitates active involvement by industry executives, through teaching, student advising activities and more.

John Bedker, Fulbright Scholar to Belarus

John Bedker haedshotJohn Bedker Ph.D., leadership experiences encompass as variety of professional arenas.  He completed 24 years of Active and Naval Reserve service where he was a Rear Admiral with major command experience. While serving as a Naval Reservist John became an airline pilot for Trans World Airlines and then American Airlines and completed over 22,000 hours of flight time, much of it as Captain flying internationally. He was President and CEO of Loudoun Consulting Group which provided consultative support and advisory services to leaders, managers and members of labor worldwide. John graduated with his undergraduate from the US Naval Academy, his masters in Economics and Government from Harvard, and his Ph.D. in Leadership and Organizational Behavior from the Henley Business School.  Most recently John was the 2018-2019 Fulbright Scholar to Belarus.

Jesus Salazar, CEO of Prosono

For the past 19 years, Jesus Salazar has helped some of the largest organizations in North America formulate and execute compelling strategies that significantly transform their business.
Dan Caruso, Chairman and CEO at Zayo Group

Dan Caruso headshotDan Caruso was Chairman and CEO at Zayo Group, a company he co-founded in 2007. Zayo was Dan’s 3rd Fiber Bandwidth startup. Dan joined Metropolitan Fiber Systems (MFS) as it began to scale and was part of the exec team that launched Level 3. All three exited for > $10B. Dan also led the take private of ICG, which achieved a 25X return and led to the ideation of Zayo. Beyond his role at Zayo, Dan is an avid supporter of Colorado’s and Chicago’s entrepreneurial community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Endeavor Colorado and serves on the boards of Colorado Thrives, University of Chicago’s Polsky Center and CU Boulder’s Chancellor Strategic Advisory Council. Dan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Ellen Balaguer, Senior Executive with Accenture
Ellen Balaguer was a senior executive with Accenture for 27 years where she held a variety of roles including Global Managing Director for HR & Learning Services and Global Managing Director for Innovation. While at Accenture, Ellen spearheaded many top strategic growth initiatives for the organization and led some of the largest and most complex deals done on a global basis. She also successfully turned around several distressed business units and drove significant growth in several areas of both the outsourcing and consulting businesses. Ellen also served on several Accenture corporate boards including the Global Leadership Council and the Global Investment Committee. Since retiring from Accenture, Ellen works with a number of education organizations and non-profits in the U.S. and around the world. Ellen attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned both a BS in Finance and a BA in Psychology.
