The ENGINEERING and TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT Program’s Executive Seminar Series allows executives from industry to pass on insight and knowledge to graduate students preparing for challenges that the seasoned executive understands well. This ETM Program initiative facilitates active involvement by industry executives, through teaching, student advising activities and more.

​ Jim Franklin

Jim Franklin is an experienced executive with C-level leadership positions in several technology companies. He was most recently the CEO of SendGrid, which went public and was acquired by Twilio.

Prior to his tenure with SendGrid, Franklin was CEO of Crystal Ball software and then upon Crystal Ball’s acquisition by Oracle; General Manager of Oracle’s Crystal Ball Global Business Unit. He was also the founder of webfamilies.com and the CFO of Vericept Corporation and has served on several venture-backed company boards as well been a mentor for TechStars, Mergelane and the Founder Institute.

Franklin is an active limited partner in venture capital funds and advisor to the startup community.

Franklin has passed the CPA exam, is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and Colorado and holds a JD/MBA and BBA-Accounting all from the College of William and Mary.

Reeves has been an investor, operator and entrepreneur but not exactly in that order. She has been in public, private and start-up companies and has extensive board member, board observer, advisor and mentor experience. She likes to work hard and make a difference for customers, colleagues, and shareholders. Reeves career spans more than 25 years in a variety of technologies, company sizes, geographic locations, and unique but interrelated functions including product, go to market, P&L responsibility, VC, corp dev, M&A, and strategy. She has championed emerging trends/technologies, market disruption, entrepreneurial ecosystems, diversity, and a global opportunity.

Reeves heads the Products team at TriNet, where they provide HR solutions, delivered through a series of configurable products, on a services and technology platform. We provide these solutions to thousands of small and medium size businesses (SMBs) in support of our mission, which is to power business success through extraordinary HR.

Dan Caruso, Managing Director, Caruso Ventures

Dan Caruso is Manaing Director of Caruso Ventures, a 3x decacorn entrepreneur and an avid supporter of entrepreneurship. In 2020,

Dan and Cindy Caruso founded Caruso Ventures, which represents their investment portfolio, family office, and not-for-profit activities. Most of Caruso Ventures’ direct investments are in support of the Colorado ecosystem. Current investments include Radia, Boom Supersonic, Honest Jobs, Maybell Quantum Industries, Spark Grills, Arryved, ColdQuanta, Outside Interactive, Voyager Space Holdings, Codigo Tequila, Mindful Urgent Care, Ninja Nation, Firefly, Chamba, and Zayo Group. Exited investments include euNetworks, Bolder Surgical, Envysion, GTS Central Europe, and Galvanize.

Caruso was the Founding Partner, Chairman and CEO of Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO), where investors enjoyed a $8.5B equity exit on a $1.0B investment. He was a co-founding executive of Level 3 and joined Metropolitan Fiber Systems (MFS) as it began to scale. All three exited for enterprise values > $10B. Caruso also led the take private of ICG, which achieved a 25X return and led to the ideation of Zayo.

Caruso is a recipient of several awards including the Chicago Booth Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship, Colorado Technology Association’s Bob Newman Lifetime Achievement Award, and Colorado Governor’s Corporate Citizenship Medal.

Dan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
