2025 ETM Ropes Course

Every year, the ETM program holds a Leadership and Team Building workshop, which utilizes multiple different activities to give students the chance to apply their leadership and teamwork skills. This year, students partook in the following activities:

Fireside Chat: Students heard from a panel of successful ETM students, many of whom were recent grads.

Tower to the Sky: Students were tasked with working in groups to create a house of cards that met certain criteria, not knowing that their objective would change halfway through the work time, reflecting the changing needs of real clients.

Silent Maze: Students had to coordinate to solve a maze puzzle… without using any words or sounds.

FUNtastic Escape Room: Students worked together and utilized creative problem solving to crack an escape room designed by ETM alum Jalen Thomas

Ropes Course: Face your fears! Students navigated a precarious obstacle course suspended several feet in the air, building self-efficacy and demonstrating that overcoming mental blocks is possible.

2025 Welcome Picnic

Every year, the department likes to welcome new and returning students to the new semester with a barbecue picnic. This year, due to construction in front of Engineering Hall, we could not hold the picnic on Engineering Hall Lawn, as is tradition, but we had a great time on Kafadar Commons! Smokey J’s was served, lawn games were played, and students, faculty, and staff all got to kick off the semester together!

NOBE National Conference

This March, CSM’s chapter of the National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE) had the honor of hosting the NOBE National Conference. Students came from the University of Minnesota, the University of Illinois, McGill University, and Southern Illinois University from March 27th to March 31st. The event was organized by our own NOBE members Nick Huber and Kieran Broderick.

2025 Alumni Event

On March 6th, the Department of Economics and Business held its annual alumni event at the Beck Venture Center.

Alumni returned to Mines to reconnect, network, listen to important updates and news within the department, and enjoy food and beverages with their fellow alumni, members, and friends of the department. Notably, the Friend of Economics & Business award honored Jerome Broussard for his excellence and generous support of EB programs and students; his gifts to the department helped to launch our Engineering and Technology Management degree program and continue to support exceptional ETM students. The alumni event is always a highlight of the year, and we can’t wait to see what our incredible alumni will accomplish in the year ahead!
